A table fit for Liliputians

We became grown-ups today; we now have a real dining table, in an actual dining room.

After eating off my uncle's old wood patio table for the last five years, we finally decided (now that more than two of us eat at a table,) that we needed to have a real table where we could eat with other people, instead of taking shifts eating with Evie in the kitchen.

And so, after shopping for the last few months, we happened upon a dining set at Costco today that included eight chairs and the table/leaf. It was a good 40% less than any table we have looked at at any other store, or discount furniture warehouse. And so, we bit the bullet.

With the help of our friends and their truck, Bryan came home this afternoon with this:

The only problem? It's really tall...as in, made for giants; my feet don't touch the floor. We knew this when we bought it, we thought it would be kind of fun. I guess it is, and it it very nice and beautiful, except when you try to pull your chair up to the table and you can't because you can't reach.

It's not uncomfortable to sit at, as there are rungs on which to rest your feet, but if you feel the need to channel your inner liliputian, you can swing your legs to and fro and the table stands at counter height and thus, the chairs are the height of bar-stools.

I suppose it will take some getting used to.

Beautiful! Can't wait until we get to be in the "real adult" category, too. I suppose it'll happen one day... :)

Oopsie! Didn't think about the scooting up to the table issue, that could be a good trick! But all in all the set is beautiful.
