Bryan has been once again summoned to Los Angeles for at least the next week. As such, our good friend Karen and her daughter Grace decided to come for a visit all the way from Colorado while he is away. The ladies arrived on Saturday and will be with me a full week. It's great to have friends like Karen, and it's wonderful to have someone keep me company and help me out a bit in my gimpy state. Our friends Luke and Holly are also friends from our California days, and so we all got together at the Point Defiance Zoo on Sunday. It was great to see all the tots interact together, and it was nice to be with old friends.
I was officially released from bedrest on Thursday, but as my doctor explained, this only means I get to go on short outings with lots of rest in-between, as I am still pretty sick. So, while I did get to get out in the sunshine and was able to visit with everyone, from some place other than my living room, I did so from a wheelchair. (a zoo is no place for a sick, weak, pregnant woman to regain her sea legs.) We shoved my IV machine into a backpack with some water, snacks and my wallet and then slung the backpack on the back of the chair. Bryan got his workout for the weekend, and I was able to be social. I felt ridiculous, but it was the best solution we could come up for spending a few hours with everyone in a toddler-friendly environment. I did get up every once in a while when we were up at animal exhibits, but I had to live in my chair for most of the day.
