LOST Recap: John gets his mission

Tonight we get more back story for John, find the cabin, and get some resolution regarding Jacob, that cabin and what is going on with Claire.

The show begins with a young rebellious teen running out of her house against her mother's wishes to go be with a man twice her age. Telling her mother "there's nothing she can do about it," the young girl storms out of the house in a flurry of gusto, only to be hit by a car in front of the house.

The next thing we see is the girl being rushed into the hospital, telling the nurse that she is six months pregnant. She delivers her tiny preemie baby boy, who she names John. This baby is John Locke, and he is the miracle baby who will survive against all odds.

Also, he is being watched from the very beginning by the dashing young fellow from the island, the one that never ages. The one who told young Ben to kill everyone in the Dharma initiative.

Throughout John's life, this guy will appear, "recruiting" John for special camps, schools etc., but John will never quite make the cut.

Back on the island. John, Ben and Hurley are looking for the cabin, but none of them know where to look or how to find it. John decides to make camp, and while sleeping, he has a "Field of Dreams" style dream where a Dharma guy by the name of Horace is building a cabin. He tells John "if you find me, you will find Jacob."

When John wakes up, he figures out what to do: he takes Ben and Hurley to the pit where Ben shot him and left him for dead; the pit full of Dharma bodies. John then proceeds to dig through the remains to find Horace. He eventually finds him, and in his shirt pocket, he finds the blueprints for the cabin.

Meanwhile, on the freighter, Kimi (the leader of the commando squad) is back with the survivors of the smoke monster. He is pissed that someone gave hime up and he wants answers. He soon learns that it is Michael who gave him up, but spares his life when he is convinced that Michael will be useful later. He then gets "plan B" a contingency plan, otherwise known as torching the island, killing everyone in his path.

Sayid decides he cannot let this stand, so he convinces the captain to allow him to take the Zodiac from the freighter and go the beach to start shuttling the survivors to the freighter.

Back in the jungle, on their way to the cabin, Ben and John have a discussion about being chosen. Ben tells John that being chosen is not all that it is cracked up to be, "it has its consequences," Ben tells him.

Flashback to John in the rehab hospital after his fall, he is being wheeled back to his room and told by the orderly that he should go on a "walkabout" in Australia. When John laughs and tells the orderly he should read his file since he can't walk, the orderly informs him that he has read his file, and that knows he is a miracle already. The camera pans up, and the orderly is the scary fellow who sent the pilot, Naomi, Dan, Charlotte and the ghost buster kid on the expedition to the island in the first place. He is the same man who was haunting Hurley in the mental institution.

He tells John to go on the walkabout, that he will come away from it a different man, but that when they meet again, "John will owe him one."

Back on the freighter, Kimi is loading up on the chopper to go back to the island and torch it. The doctor is there, and one of the guys make a joke about how the folks on the island were talking about the doctor washing up on the island with his throat slit. The doctor replies, "but I'm right here."

Kimi tells the pilot to get in, the pilot refuses. Kimi then kills the doctor and the captain, which influences the pilot to get in the chopper. He gets the satellite phone, turns it on and stuffs it in the bottom of bag however, before he takes off.

Finally, with only eight minutes left to the show, we see the folks on the beach, the helicopter flies overhead, and the phone is dropped on a tent. Jack pulls the phone out of the bag and declares "I think they want us to follow them..."

Back at the cabin, Ben informs John that his time is up and that John is now the point man to Jacob. Both Hurley and Ben refuse to go into the cabin; John goes in alone. When he enters, there is Christian, Jack and Claire's dad.

John asks "are you Jacob?"

Christian replies, "No, I'm Christian, but I can speak for him."

John asks, "do you know why I'm here?"

Christian nods..."why do you think you are here, John?"

John: "Because I was chosen"

Christian: "That is exactly right."

John then notices someone else in the room, he turns and sees Claire, who smirks knowingly... "don't worry John," she says, "I'm with him."

John freaks out, and asks why she is there, "but what about Aaron?!?!"

Christian replies, "Aaron is exactly where he is supposed to be, and that is not here"

He then goes on to say..."but these are not important questions, why don't you ask the ONE important question?"

John: "how do I save the island?"

At this point, John comes out of the cabin and tells Ben and Hurley that he was told he needs to move the island.

So here is what we know,

John was "miraculous" from birth, he was also being "followed" from birth. Christian is not dead, or he's got the same kind of immortal status or supernatural powers as the other guy from John's past. (dark hair, one who got John to con Sawyer into killing John's dad; one who got Ben to kill all the Dharma people.)

Claire has most DEFINITELY abandoned Aaron, never to return (as a mother to a baby, this is most difficult to handle and almost makes watching the show unbearable these days.)

The time-space thing is weird as we well know, but the doctor still being alive on the boat, and then being killed only wash up later, is all very odd.

The bad people, (we don't know who they are yet,) the people in charge of the expedition to the island, the ones who hired Naomi, Dan etc., the ones who behind the scary African man, they have been orchestrating this whole thing from the very beginning, as in, since John was born, but probably before that.

Christian WAS the guy in the rocking chair last year!!!

If the island is to be saved, John is the one to save it, and to do so, he has to "move" it. That ought to be fascinating.

Next week's preview, the Oceanic six get off the island, finally.
But what happens to the rest of them?
