In case you slept through history class in high school, here is a reminder from your friendly neighborhood history teacher, today is Pearl Harbor Day.
On December 7th, 1941, Japanese planes bombed the American Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor, killing 2,402 service men and women, while wounding another 1,282. Many are still entombed underwater in the USS Arizona, now a National memorial in Hawaii.
A horrific and National tragedy, President Roosevelt marked this day as a "day which will live in infamy," and this attack is what spurned isolationist Americans and Congress to grant Roosevelt the authority to go to war, specifically against Hitler and his Nazis wreaking havoc across Europe. How?
After the attacks, the US declared war on Japan; Germany, declaring itself an ally of Japan, declared war on the US= America entered WWII on two fronts and changes the outcome of the war. The end.
