In addition to introducing me to baby carriers, Karen also gave me a miracle blanket...otherwise know as baby-lockdown. What we're talking about here is a special blanket that serves as a straight jacket/swaddler for the baby. Said baby cannot, try as she might, escape from this blanket. The subsequent result is that said baby will simply fall off to sleep, defeated.
Last night, Evie staged another bed-time coup detat. After three hours of crying and screaming whenever we layed her down, we decided it was time to go back to the basics. I remembered the mircale blanket, which until now, was too big for little Evie. We wrapped her up, plugged her w/ a pacifier, put her on her side and rocked her while we made shooshing noises...just like they say to do in the books.
In a matter of moments, Evie closed her eyes, relaxed her little body and drifted off to sleep. She remained asleep until I had to physically wake her this am for a feeding. Needless to say, we will be using this special swaddle blanket every night for a while.
